Kinect is an accessory for gaming devices, introduced by Microsoft. This device would enable controller free gaming and is expected to be available in the market in a short span of time. This has been introduced by Microsoft specifically for Xbox 360 games. Kinect is loaded with a feature where there is no need for any type of manual game control. Under this the user may play the game using motions, through voice commands or even through images. Kinect’s design is similar to a web cam and is added to the base gaming device in the same manner as a web cam is added to a PC. Due to such advanced features, Xbox Kinect games are expected to give a tough competition to Nintendo WiI and other similar gaming devices.
Since, this device does not support any mechanical control; there is a sensor which is installed to receive the gestures of the user. This sensor, known as Kinect sensor is a horizontal bar standing on a base of a motorized pivot. The sensor includes highly advanced features like depth sensor, RGB camera and most impressive of all, multi array microphone software. This software enables facial as well as voice recognition. It also gives an impressive 3D motion capture to give the best visual effects during the game. One can adjust the range of sensing according to the needs while playing. The camera is efficient enough to allow a wide range of frame to the user.
It is regarded that this device would be consuming relatively more power than an ordinary Xbox 360; therefore, an additional USB feature is installed so that the power can be extracted at ease without much problem. The power can be received from the main switch through AC adapter.
Kinect software requires minimum 190 MB of available storage space. The advanced features of Kinect add to the usability of this program. The most usable application is known as video Kinect. This application enables video chatting and voice chatting with Xbox 360 players and windows live messenger users.
